MANAGING COMMITTEE


The management of NHRDF vests in the Managing Committee which consisting of 4 representatives from NAFED, 9 representative from Associate Shippers and 4 from eminent scientists / experts in related field and the Director, NHRDF as a Member-Secretary.

ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The NHRDF has an Advisory Committee which meets periodically for review of the research and developmental activities being carried out and finalizing the technical programmes. The committee is headed by Deputy Director General (Hort.), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi . Eminent scientists in different disciplines are its members. Under the guidance of Advisory Committee, the Foundation is marching ahead in carrying out its research and developmental programmes on various export-oriented horticultural crops. The Committee meets twice a year to review the progress of research and developmental activities and also finalization of future programme of kharif and rabi seasons.

CENTRES AND SUB-CENTRES

The NHRDF has created many infrastructural facilities to carry out R&D activities in the field and laboratory on all aspects of different export-oriented horticultural crops. The NHRDF established research stations and extension centres in different states of the country. Presently, it has 5 Regional Research Stations (RRSs) and 20 Extension Centres (ECs) spread all over the country. It has also established one Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Ujwa in New Delhi to cater to the need of the farmers of Delhi state.

The NHRDF has well-developed research farm along with requisite buildings etc. at its Regional Research Stations, viz. 18 acres land at Karnal (Haryana), 42.50 acres at Sinnar, Nashik and 18.50 acres in Chitegaon at its Head Office, Nashik (Maharashtra), 10 acres at Kombai Dindigul (Tamil Nadu), 20 acres at Talaja, Bhavnagar (Gujarat) and 45 acres at Ujwa, New Delhi. Apart from the research stations, it has established one Post-Harvest Research Complex (PHRC) at Lasalgaon, Nashik ( Maharashtra ). "The seed processing plants are established at Lasalgaon ( Maharashtra ), Rajkot ( Gujarat ), Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Karnal (Haryana), Deoria (Uttar Pradesh) and Bathinda ( Punjab ). The seed stores with controlled temperature and humidity facilities are also established at Lasalgaon, Sinnar and Chitegaon in Nashik district of Maharashtra; Janakpuri in New Delhi; Rajkot in Gujarat; Karnal in Haryana; Indore in Madhya Pradesh and Deoria in Uttar Pradesh. These are used for storage of vegetable seeds, including onion seeds produced by NHRDF under its developmental programmes. Six polyhouses of 2000 sq. meter each are constructed at Karnal (two nos.), Ujwa, New Delhi (one no.), Chitegaon (one no.) and Sinnar (two nos.) farms.

The NHRDF has also established field laboratories at its Regional Research Stations and at Nashik. The laboratories on Seed Technology, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Plant Physiology and Soil Testing have been established at Nashik and its Regional Research Station, Karnal. The seed testing laboratory has also been established at its Post-Harvest Research Complex, Lasalgaon, Nashik. The Mushroom Spawns and Pasteurized Compost Production Unit have also been established at its registered office in New Delhi .

Besides, NHRDF has established one of the most sophisticated and modern Pesticide Residue Analysis Laboratory (PRAL) at Nashik with the financial assistance of Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India and APEDA. The Laboratory has been recognized by the APEDA, New Delhi , for pesticide residue testing in all agricultural and horticultural produce, which is being exported from India . The laboratory has also been accredited by the NABL for residue analysis.

The NHRDF has established a Biocontrol Laboratory for production of biopesticides at Nashik with the financial assistance from the Government of India under National Horticulture Mission. The biopesticides are the important tools in integrated pest management system strategies, which are potential, economical, eco-friendly and safe for both human health and the environment. Production and distribution of biopesticides, i.e. Trichoderma has been started.

The NHRDF has established information centre one each at Nashik and New Delhi office to gather and disseminate the information on area, production, crop condition, marketing, availability and export of horticultural crops, particularly on onion, garlic and potato. This information centre is linked with major growing pockets through NHRDF centres. The website www.nhrdf.com has been launched.
